"One Great Whole is the first fruit of Ryan Umari's studies in various fields (from near death experiences, medicine, and psychology to philosophy and religion) that have a bearing on the nature of humanity, the mind, and reality itself. It brings together numerous sources and extensive evidence into a coherent and, to me, compelling argument regarding the immortality of the soul, the reality of pre-mortal and post-mortal existences, and the nature and meaning of human existence. These are subjects that deserve serious treatment, yet few dare to venture into these controversial, interdisciplinary, and institutionally disfavored spaces. Some of the factors hostile to an effort such as this are the materialist bent of mainstream science and the impossibility of maintaining what a hyper-specialized academia regards as expertise within the dozens of fields involved in the issues this book touches on.
