Building off of premises established in 'One Great Whole', THE SPIRIT OF GOD gives analogy of spiritual progression to the ascent of a mountain, with paths leading in various directions.  The book considers the nature of this mountain, and opposition and obstacles that are encountered along the way. This sequel considers this journey of the human soul, and the sources of life and light through which it can approach the summit. THE SPIRIT OF GOD attempts to dissolve theological discord through undertaking a new metaphysical exploration which grounds scriptural understanding in Scientific, Historic, Geographic, Linguistic, and Near Death Evidence. 

In both books, the discovery of the Human Energy Field (HEF) and the concept of energy are taken to be a type of, or one form, of the substance of spiritual matter. The books consider the Human Energy Field to be a term that science might use for the same thing religious communities call the "spirit". Where there is a concept that the spirit and body will one day be resurrected, we use the term "soul", to describe both the spirit and physical aspects of the human body together. And as the argument put forth in the book is that energy is a form of spiritual matter, the terms energy body, or energetic body, and spiritual body are used interchangeably. 

The books are not perfect research or rational reflection, but many of the ideas put forth support and strengthen arguments for spiritual truths.  Ascent publishers and this author consider human reason to be a divine gift, that when used to reflect on new and existing evidence, premises and information, can develop and further additional understanding. Reason cannot derive the premises themselves, but is an analytical tool that can work with existing information to develop understanding, and even further the cause of truth. Reason cannot replace revelation, but can often be a helpful complement.

In this regard, the books use NDEs and the HEF as additional evidence to reflect upon, in support of religious and spiritual understanding. They give a glimpse into the future and support the understanding that truth and light, purity and compassion are aspects of God's character, and also the makeup of the eternal world.
